about

My Fav song on this album was/is Cat In My Guitar Case. Thompson my big orange cat used to wait until I took my guitar out of its case and crawl in as fast as he could. It was a big pink furry lined Gibson case and here was this huge fat orange fluffball curled up inside. Why oh why didn't I ever take a pic? I miss you Tommy :( My second fav was Sunday Sunrise.

The Wind was the name I used for my first songwriting attempts. I was too shy to use my own name and it was much easier to hide behind the shield of a band name. I began writing songs around 1985 or 1986 (age 16-17) and arranged the songs into albums as I completed enough songs. I did this up until about 1996 and made a total of 7 albums and almost 90 songs.

With this 4th album I was enjoying my first home (where I still reside yrs later) and trying to expand my songwriting abilities. I had been working at the airport for 2 years and wasn't totally irritated with the place yet. :) Songs were being written differently now; I would either start with a melody idea or a guitar riff and work from there. Lyrically I was still fully stream of consciousness style writing here. As a result, the lyrics seem vague and wandering to some extent, even to me and I wrote the stuff :)

I called this Tunnel Vision because it seemed like I was so focused on the guitar *only* with the writing of these songs (and not enuf on the lyrics) that in the end I didn't really have the same emotional attachment to most of these songs like I did with the three earlier albums. I vowed to improve this on my future attempts.

about

Brett Allen Gregory Livermore, California

I've always been compelled to write.

Early on it was journaling and poetry, but then that merged with my guitar addiction to become songwriting.

The process was always a bit manic, pressured, as if a large gorilla had stepped into my room, grabbed me by the lapels and said, "I will not let you sleep until you write this idea down." And so for years the gorilla and I danced madly thru the night.
