See you in dreams see you in my dreams See you in dreams see you in my dreams I knew from the start that this could never be Held on to my heart before it ran away with me I closed my eyes tight but still there I see See you in dreams see you in my dreams See you in dreams see you in my dreams Cover my eyes to close out the morning sunrise Keep my head down don’t look at the clear blue sky Your love all around is it any surprise I See you in dreams see you in my dreams See you in dreams When I awake the memorys will not fade a fools mistake not to let you slip away One look at my heart you’ll find two arrows deep One for the love I promised I‘d always keep But now in the dark each night that I fall asleep I See you in dreams see you in my dreams See you in dreams see you in my dreams See you in Dreams

I Won't Cry 04:46
I Wont Cry Verse One You say you’re goin’ out tonight, dancin’ with your friends You give me your best lyin’ eyes, say you’ll be home by ten But girl I know you better than that, and your lies are wearin’ thin I know I won’t see you till the sun comes shinnin’ in So maybe you think you got yourself a fool wrapped up at home You might want to think again, cause I think your fool just might be gone Verse Two Don’t you say I treat you wrong girl, don’t you say I treat you mean Don’t you say I let our love grow cold like some one sided thing Cause girl you know me better than that and you are my only dream But I can feel it in my bones tonight and it’s feelin’ evil-mean And I’m left alone here thinkin’ ‘bout your misbehavin’ ways With every minute tickin’ by I find one less reason to stay Chorus: But I won’t cry – I won’t cry over you I won’t cry – I won’t give a damn ‘bout the things you do I won’t cry I won’t lay down and die I wont cry for you Verse Three Well outside its rainin’ and there’s lightnin’ cross the sky That ole hound dog been wailin’ with the thunder rollin’ by But inside these walls its quiet like a hurricanes eye I’m in the middle of a storm caught between love and my pride Inside and out girl these storms are ragin’ strong You best hope they fade away ‘fore I do somethin’ wrong Verse Four My hats upon my head and I’m walkin’ out your door Just these clothes upon my back don’t want your troubles anymore You got alibis and lyin’ eyes and these rumors by the score So many times I turned my head but I can no longer ignore Your love is for another while our love has grown cold And I been holdin’ you girl, who what I don’t know Chorus repeats

Blue Motel 04:11
There's no road long enough for me and no place I'm expected to be Theres lovers and leavers and fools and believers sometimes in my mirror its an old man i see Theres an old place I like to stay where no one knows me by my name Theres whiskey and wishes and whispers and women the one that you're missin just gets farther away Chorus: with every smoke cloud sunset under a neon sky concrete palm trees and moonlight lullabyes this blue motel's got everything that you need and nothin that you don't She took one long last look at my face and when she spoke there was not a trace of the laugh lines and good times, just bad lies and last tries there's no tellin what you'll find in this old empty place bridge: this kind of desperation takes time I'm just an old habit she left behind now the the echo of her words are all that I find up here in my mind chorus2: Take your smoke clous sunsets, you can have your neon sky your concrete palm trees and sing your moonlight lullabyes if that blue motel's got everything that you need then here's one thing that you don't If your Blue Motel's got everything that you need then here goes one thing that you dont

about

After Mystery was done, I had a few more songs that I wrote over the next two years, but lingering in the back of my mind was the memory of 5 songs I had written with Brian in 1997. Brian was living in Nashville by this time and really was not interested in recording those old songs with me so I just did the best I could on my own and included them here with my new songs. Those songs are sorely missing his vocals and harmony. No matter what tho, I felt I needed to get these songs out of my system by presenting them in the best way I could at the time and then move on.

The first MoonDogs album (Mystery) had been a real collaboration between Steve, Brian Covey, Craig, Jim and Bruce on that collection of my tunes but this album was turning out to be much different. Not just Brian, but all of us were busier than we ever had been. Joe was up in Red Bluff, Steve was truckin around the country drivin an 18 wheeler and Brian Covey was workin on trains in Nevada (and working with his own band). I contemplated using session musicians but decided to just do the best I could by myself and bring everybody in for just one song each instead of multiple songs. That turned out to be a much more reasonable goal.

I did debate whether or not to call this album something other than "by The MoonDogs" but I decided that since it was probably the last time all of us would be on one collection of material together (in one way or another) that I would go ahead and call this The MoonDogs one last time and then the next album would be something different. With that in mind I decided to use my favorite picture of the original CrossRoads band, taken by Brian wife, Jennifer Bennett. Even tho Brian didn't participate in this album vocally, I felt like his part on the 5 songs we wrote together alone, not to mention his influence on my songwriting overall, meant that he was part of this album in a large and irreplaceable way.

about

Brett Allen Gregory Livermore, California

I've always been compelled to write.

Early on it was journaling and poetry, but then that merged with my guitar addiction to become songwriting.

The process was always a bit manic, pressured, as if a large gorilla had stepped into my room, grabbed me by the lapels and said, "I will not let you sleep until you write this idea down." And so for years the gorilla and I danced madly thru the night.
